Superior team take part in DASH careers and employability event

Superior, which is located in Ferndown, attended the Skills Match event at Signature Technicare at Bournemouth Airport, which was hosted by Young Enterprise’s DASH Employability Programme (Dorset and South Hampshire). The event enabled young people from Dorset-based schools to learn about the skills being sought by employers and find out more about boosting their own employability.

Employers from across the county highlighted the different employment and training opportunities available to students to help them to achieve their dream career. Superior representatives educated young people about the apprenticeships available within its in-house Academy, with a focus on science and engineering. Representatives also explained how Superior’s apprentices can go on to gain a degree through the Academy and have the opportunity to progress into management and leadership roles across the business.

Katie Bodman, head of training academy at Superior, said: “We were proud to be part of the Skills Match event hosted by Young Enterprise’s DASH Employability Programme. It was a great opportunity to speak to students about their future career aspirations and the options available to them in science and engineering.”

The event was split up by Young Enterprise into eight skills match areas, which focused on transferable skills, including communication, organisation, financial capability, resilience, confidence, problem solving, initiative and teamwork. Parents were invited to attend the event in the evening to enable them to share the conversations with their children and their potential future employers.

Superior works hard to ensure it invests early in future and aspiring engineers and scientists by offering valuable work experience placements in the Academy, as well as providing tours for parents, teachers and students. The team also gives presentations during school assemblies, and supports schools with introducing engineering qualifications into their curriculum.
